Today’s item of the day is a which is up for bid on eBay. It has a starting price of just $9.99

The seller tells us this: This auction is for an original 1920s poster showing Mnemonic Chart for pronouncing and spelling Chinese. This item measures about 31″ x 43″ and is the vintage original from 1920s. It is not a copy, not a print, not a recent creation. The item was once folded, so there is wear along the edges where it was folded. There are tears throughout some folds and edges — see larger scans below. There is also a small hole on the right center — see detailed closeups below.

This is a valuable historical item, as this was probably a poster or instructional tool made for either schools or government agencies back in the 1920s. The paper is very thin, so it should be linen-backed or matted. Given the fragile paper typical of the 1920s, many of these haven either been discarded or otherwise damaged. SCARCE — RARE FIND IN ANY CONDITION.

About Tom Murphy
My name is Tom Murphy and I’m becoming more and more a full time Blogger - trying to master this new and dynamic medium called blogging. Back in the late 1990s I found the Internet and was not sure what it was.. or where it was going. I worked at the time for IBM and we had what was called then PROFS - the Professional Office System. I didn’t know it at the time but that was perhaps my beginning interest in blogging. As I learn more and more about Blogging.. and Wordpress.. and my other passion - Ephemera, I hope to be able to blog about it to my followers here on this blogsite. Stay with me for what I hope will be a fun adventure for us all.
